Perspective Enhancement

Monday, 8 December 2003

The BBC reports that the UN is a bit concerned about population growth. Pretty much everybody knows this, I’m sure, but the degree of their concern is a bit of a shocker;

The United Nations has published new predictions on the size and age of the world’s population 300 years from now. It says that if fertility stays at the current level, the global population could rise to 134 trillion.

I’m not sure why, but reading that makes the long-term future much more concrete for me.
