“Design depends largely on constraints.” — Charles Eames

We were… refreshingly reminded that we’re not in Kansas (or even California) any more while watching The Daily Show on TV tonight, and this commercial came on;
Nando’s is a national fast-food chicken chain. They’ve spent years building their brand; in the US, this would be suicide, but in AU, it’s just a bit clever.
UPDATE: Some people seem to have taken an offhand comment I made above as an opportunity for America bashing and/or pro-American chest-beating, so I’ve removed the relevant bits as well as their comments.
For those still wanting to go on about it, I’d suggest you consider John’s take on the subject;
…realise that it cuts both ways, and find someplace else to waste time and bits.

Hahahahaha.
Nicely said. Now, if only *we* could get some people like that over here.... :)
[BTW, I really would like to discuss cultural imperialism and US-Australian relations sometime. Preferably over a (good) beer]

hmmmmmmmm, wasn't Australia some sort of prison colony or where misfits were sent? Hey, don't get me wrong - misfits are typically very creative individuals. :-)

This ad is intelligent and plays very well on the general Australian sense of humour. By the way, for those that don't know- this is sending up nicotine patch/nicotine gum ads on tv which are very common in Australia at the moment.
