BACKGROUND

This program reads XML and text-based "backend" headline syndication
files produced by hundreds of producers of syndicated news content. It
gathers up the headlines from each producer and presents them in a
nice scrolling list. Clicking on a headline opens the full story in
your browser.  It is a clean and straightforward way to stay in touch
with the latest news from hundreds of news producers without spending
all day clicking.

Access to nearly 800 news sites is provided. 181 are built in, and
over 600 more can be downloaded from UserLand, StartsHere, GrokSoup,
and xmlTree. 

The user can add new sites, and the four syndication lists add more
content nearly every day.

In addition to generic text backend files, the following XML formats
are supported:
