[syndication] Re: Thoughts, questions, and issues.



I'm a lurker on this list. I'm not a technical person, though I can program well enough for my own purposes in three or four different languages (and don't worry, I don't count html as a language). I am primarily a writer. I am interested in this stuff not for its own sake but for what it can do for me. I understand the current RSS 0.91 just fine, as well as scriptingNews format.

If people like me, content generators, are the end users, you're losing us. I'm more technical than most of my fellows, and I have to say I don't understand a damn thing about this new spec. It seems extremely complicated. What drew me to XML in the first place was all the neat stuff it looked like you could do with it--fairly simply and understandably for even non-technical people. I think you're losing sight of us non-tech folks; to paraphrase Abigail Adams, please, sirs, remember the writers. We are to some degree at your mercy.
