To me, syndication means sharing my information with others, so they can use
it for their own purposes (whether that is inclusion on a website,
downloading to a handheld, or entry into a database). I see structured text
(like XML) as the best way to accomplish this, because it makes it easier
for the data to be used for other purposes.
