Re: [syndication] Re: Total confusion in RSS-Land

An FYI, look at how far XML-RPC has gone. Now there's SOAP, it co-exists,
sure there's probably some confusion, but it has a different name from
XML-RPC. Now the W3C has a working group in this area, and it will
(presumably) get a different name from both XML-RPC and SOAP.

There are a lot of parallels betw XML-RPC and SOAP and RSS and (fill in name
here). Rael and Ken and Aaron et al can pursue their dream, whatever it is,
where ever it takes them, without interfering with RSS, without introducing
confusion. Had Microsoft done what they did, I have no doubt that there
would have been an uprising. It was unfair to grab the name the way they did
it.

To Mark, if RSS becomes a work of the W3C I have no doubt that it will get a
different name. It'll probably be like what Rael et al are proposing. So if
you bring it into W3C that's fine with me. UserLand is a W3C member. I can't
imagine a W3C working group putting up with the kind of michegas we have had
to deal with on this mail list.
