Only problem is that there's no presence in the UI, at least in
current browsers. If all current browsers supported it, it would work
a treat, but how would a Netscape 4 or IE5 user know about the
presence of the channel, or do anything with it? Even if it is
integrated into the browser, I think site designers will want a way
to visually communicate that the channel is there, on the page.

Perhaps this *is* the way to go, but there would also need to be a
little piece of javascript and an image (or whatever) that would
point to this tag, and add it to the user's aggregator.
Unfortunately, some state would need to be saved somewhere - if it's
integrated in the browser, the browser can remember the user's
aggregation engine. If it's not, where does it live?
