Here's some prior art in XMLizing calendars.

This is a XMLized dump of the basic data structure in Weblogs.Com. There are
other XMLizations that are meant to be paired with it, described on
backend.userland.com.

The bottom-line, it can be transparently simple to reflect time-based info
in XML.
