RE: [syndication] Re: Ads in RSS



To me, the concept of an ad appearing in an RSS file is somewhat redundant.

The RSS file *is* the ad; by offering enticing headlines it is asking the
people viewing the RSS to visit the actual site. It is up to the site owner
to derive revenue from those actual visits.

I hope that we are not going towards a world where RSS files include an
ad which must be displayed to use the other information in the RSS. That
would suck.

Actually, this already does happen, although it's not really "hidden" - 
it's the first entry in the list. The site in question is:

(although currently, I'm having problems viewing the .rdf). If you can't 
see theh .rdf, take a look at the webpage - the $20 blurb is the first 
entry in the RSS file...
