Depends what sort of timeframe you mean for reasonably ;) ... A few months
ago, I compiled a list of RSS feeds. 1255 in the final feed. After going
through and checking for feeds that updated themselves in the past month
(giving feeds that I couldn't determine the benefit of the doubt), I ended
up with 985. Incidentally, you can see these old lists at
disobey.com/amphetadesk/ (along with a large failure list of channels that
are still publicly available in other feeds).
I'm in the process again of recreating the lists. I'll let the group know
my results. As for Moreover and Yahoogroops and so forth, I have no perfect
scale. Moreover.com - I include them all in the major list. Search requests
I don't - I merely give instructions how to. Yahoo Groups - I give
instructions. Too many to care about. You can see these various
instructions at disobey.com/amphetadesk/finding_more.htm
Everything is a case by case basis - for instance, I give instructions on
how to create a Meerkat feed, but I also include feeds for the various
authors that blog from O'Reilly. Echofactor I never included because of the
sheer depth of channels, that to my eyes, were never updated. Sherch, I
give instructions too, same with 10.am.
And I include the Scripting News list as well. The Scripting News list is
updated weekly. I *would* include a complete list of Manilla sites if I
could find a list.
Once I get a super master list of every channel that I know is still
"available" (be it still publishing or not), I then go through and make the
recent list, which as mentioned, is "channels that have been updated in the
past month" or "channels that I can't tell, so I'll give them the benefit
of the doubt".
