Gee, I dunno.... 74 messages waiting for me when I got in to work this
morning. Guess I shouldn't've slept last night. :-)
Anyway, here's my opinion:
Rename RSS 1.0 to something without RSS in the name. Run a survey on RSS-DEV
for the new name. Let it evolve on RSS-DEV.
RSS 0.91 stays RSS 0.91, the "one true RSS" :-) Implementations are of
course free to pay attention to new tags they understand that are outside of
the spec, since they should already be ignoring ones they don't. Just forget
about the limits (500-chars, 15-items, etc.) since most implementations
already do.
Rename RSS 0.92 to something without RSS in the name. Run a survey on either
Syndication or reallySimpleSyndication for the new name. Let it evolve in
reallySimpleSyndication.
I like the idea of new names in part because it gives me the chance to make
my software compliant with even more acronyms than before! It's just not as
cool marketing-buzzword-wise if everything starts with "RSS".... :-)
