ANNOUNCE: rss-naming-politics mailing list

(could someone please pass this on to the reallySimpleSyndication
mailing list and other relevant fora, eg. scriptingnews discussions
etc?)

Dear all,

rss-naming-politics: we seem to be doing it again. The discussion is
sprawled messily over lists that weren't designed for debate on this
topic. Some people seem to care a lot about the naming (and control) of
RSS-related specifications; others are getting disllusioned with the
collective spectacle we're making of ourselves.

I propose we move the whole sorry soap opera to a special purpose list,
and have created one on YahooGroups for this exact and sole purpose. I urge
Rael, Dave and others to consider moving this heated and time consuming
set of threads across to rss-naming-politics@yahoogroups.com asap. As
Eric points out, it is out of scope for the RSS-DEV list, and not
exactly central to the 'syndication' mission either.

[[
This mailing list serves as a neutral forum for discussion and
debate about the naming of the specs currently known as RSS 0.9,
0.91-3, 1.0 etc. Specifically, it is created so that
developers, content creators and other members of the syndication,
rss-dev and reallySimpleSyndication lists can choose to opt in or out
of discussing these issues. The list is open and public to all
interested members of this extended community.

BTW I don't know enough about YahooGroups to know whether my having created
the group puts me in any sinister position of innapropriate power. If
having someone from the 'other side' as co-list-owner would help to get
discussion moved there, I'd certainly be on for that.

cheers,

Dan
