Speaking of New Channels...

Dave, thanks for the viewRssChanges page. It's good.

I've also completed some updates to the channel list used by AmphetaDesk.
This list is publicly available (although it's about to go through some
changes, so if you plan to use it in a client, lemme know) and is broken up
into three parts. You can see all three lists here:

And stat-wise:

  - There are 1980 available channels in the complete list.
    These are channels that are "there" - there is no attempt
    to verify freshness, or much else.

  - Of those 1980 channels, 1646 channels are in the recent
    list, meaning that they were updated in the past month.
    NOTE THAT THIS IS A SKEWED RESULT. When I couldn't find
    out the last modified time (either from the webserver
    headers or a <lastPubDate>), I gave them the benefit
    of the doubt and threw them in the list.

  - Finally, there are 977 entries in the failure list.
    A lot of these are from other listings (and still
    there), but provoked server errors, invalid XML,
    or server not found's when the Ampheta script tried
    to get to them.

But is workable in any reader/client. The URLs are permanent. There is a
<version>1</version> in each of the lists - if you plan to use them, you
can check this tag to make sure you're getting what you expect (although
again, the format will change a bit soon, so let me know if you plan on
using them).

Finally, future-wise, I'm looking to create a webbased interface to this
mess as well as some hooks into it ("show me all new channels in the past 3
days", "show me channels updated in the past week", "is this channel
listed?", etc.)
