The feed you're picking up from Meerkat is not simply sucking data from
the content management system, but from Meerkat's database, which picks
up O'Reilly Network feeds just like any other, as RSS. For this reason,
what's grabbed in the feeds may not necessarily correspond one-to-one
with what's on the OpenP2P or other pages. The feed usually contains
more (15 by default) items than typically appears as the latest 3-5 on
OpenP2P.
That all said, we do know that a story on OpenP2P every so often does
not appear in the feed. This has been noted by those who are making
this happen and expect it to be taken care of shortly.
http://openp2p.com/p2p/getopenp2p.csp
Explains how to get OpenP2P headlines via javascript.
eg http://meerkat.oreillynet.com/?&p=8160&_fl=js
Changing the _fl to rss should yield the same headlines in rss. And it
does, except that the headline list is not what's on the home page.
You're absolutely right. In reponse to the initial note this morning, I
did add such instructions under an "RSS Syndication" section on these
pages providing the URLs for RSS 0.91 and RSS 1.0 views.
Regarding the Weblogs feeds, yes I know those are not working as
expected, nor is there a button to add them to your site. This also is
in process.
Great suggestion about the XML button. I've passed that along to our
producers.
