Re: [syndication] GrabNews - ASP RDF/RSS newsgrabber

Hi Paul,

We are beginners at displaying RSS news feeds on our site, though we maintain a daily RSS news feed for other sites registered at all the right places. Up to now we have used David Carter Todd's excellent service and News Is Free equally great service. However, the problem which Pino and Mike have encountered has meant we cant continue the News IS free service until we get a system to cache their feeds on our remotely-hosted server.

We have looked at your ASP RDF/RSS newsgrabber as Pino recommended it but note it needs the XML3 parser and a SQL database. This has put our webmasters in a fix as they dont really know how to handle it, and how we instruct the ISP web space provider how to install it. He is likely to not want to do it or charge us major us dollars to install it. (We are a Malaysian site and any service in US dollars is extremely expensive for us).

One great thing about Dave's and the NEws IS Free service is that you didnt have to involve the server techs in any way.

Do you have any further advice for novices rather than technically gifted than what is on your website?

Any others who have solutions we would really be grateful...

Version 1.2 of GrabNews - the ASP RDF/RSS newsheadline grabber code.

New features includes URL error checking and user-friendly error
messages. Also includes a very basic, at the moment, add news page
for adding RDF/RSS page links. And is released under the GPL.

To download it goto: http://website.lineone.net/~dazzlepm.
