Re: [syndication] Advertising/subscription feeds?

I've actually already seen one feed that had an advertisement as the first
item in the feed list. And technically, the AmphetaDesk feed list has an
"advertisement" for itself... Don't remember that first feed though.

Myself, I'm not too enthralled about it. I've been asked various times to
create login capability for member protected Yahoo Groups and their RSS
feeds, and I'm receptive to that idea. Creating login based services for
subscribed feeds seems like a waste of my time - in essence, I'm helping my
users get advertisements.
There are two things that I hold true of RSS:
- it's data, not display. html is bad.
- it's data, not marketing. advertising is bad.
If neither of the above come to fruit, then AmphetaDesk will continue under
my coding prowess (stifle guffaws of laughter). If either of the above
become more prominent or "required", then development on Ampheta will stop.
I have no intentions of duplicating the craptacular decline of webpages,
with ads, popups, flash, and all that crap. None. What. So. Ever.
