Im not aware of the yellow box service, but aware of the old isyndicate 
service.

As  a publisher, Moreover for example asks us to PAY to allow our news 
items to be listed, and PAY to redisplay them on our site in non-advertised 
custom fashion.

I would think that as a minimum, news aggregators expecting people to pay 
for these services would provide keyword searched services, amalgamating 
latest items from all sources on a timely basis. As we all know, it does 
not take much work to do this oneself with some programming knowledge or 
through other open source services such as newsisfree, etc etc. who I am 
sure are providing a great paid service using a higher level of 
customization than yellow box.

As a web site news site provider, the great thing about RSS is that it is 
possible to use it and customize without shelling out megabucks.
