I think the latest version of CF (CF 5) has been fixed.

Did a get head on http://devex.macromedia.com/developer/gallery/ 
(running coldfusion 5) and it returned \r\n\r\n

the server mine is sitting on is v4.5 which is slightly annoying, but 
its reassuring that they've nailed it in the new versions.
