I was under the impression that Daypop used a method similar to that 
of blogdex, fetching pages of HTML and then digesting the contents. 
Daypop does search some RSS feeds (from newsisfree i believe), but I 
think the "Top 40" is compiled from links from all pages, RSS or not.

I think two ranking sites is enough, I just threw that out there to 
illustrate the point of what kind of data it was. Though, upon 
thinking about it, it would be neat to be able to produce a Top 40 
list for each category, (ie, top technology links, top news links, 
etc) instead of just a top overall list.
