Re: [syndication] Re: Policies and so on

MyWireService agrees with Jeremy ;-) -- our service is the aggregation, not the content.

In fact, the way we read the law on this matter: regardless of individual site's policies, our service is "fair use" of the content, in much the same way that a search engine (which also makes money, albeit from advertising) provides search results which are made up of other sites' content. Our interpretation is further bolstered by the effect that our use of the material is to increase the value of the source, by driving traffic to the original publisher's website.

That said, we are always happy to remove a feed from our service if a publisher asks.

Yahoo!Policy says (and I am quoting):

Here is my question... does online aggregator go again this policy ?
like MyWireService (http://www.mywireservice.com/), which plans to ask
10$/year to use their services...

Why do you draw a distinction between on-line aggregators and desktop
aggregators?

I would say no since the service provided is the "aggregation" and not
the access to the feed itself!

What do you guys think ?

I, obviously not speaking for Yahoo, agree. Others my not.
