DTD for feedlist OPML
Here's a DTD for feedlist OPML, along with instructions for its use :
http://semtext.org/wiki/index.php/OpmlDtd
This can improve interoperability between aggregators/newsreaders, but
it depends on your cooperation.
If your exported OPML validates against this DTD then please add the
name of your tool to the bottom of the page (it's on a Wiki), along with
the date you checked.
Background :
Last time I got snarky about OPML and the incompatibility between the
various ways different aggregator/newsreaders have interpreted the OPML
spec for feedlists, a couple of folks suggested I compile a list of the
way people were implementing it, to make translation possible. But XML
already has a pretty reasonable route to compatibility - validation.
This isn't really feasible with "full" OPML, as arbitrary attributes can
appear. But for the specific task of carrying feedlists, this should be
possible, so I've done a DTD based on the example in the "Guidelines for
more powerful OPML". I may dislike OPML, but I'm all for interop ;-)
Cheers,
Danny.
