NZ Herald have an *enormous* directory of files (the directory listing took like 4 or 5 megabytes of download!), and every item is at its own URL. So how does my parser know where to get the file from? It's at a different URL every time?
NITF is what you might call a professional format for *syndicating* news between news publications. I think what you need to do is to bitch and moan and complain and chivvy them into providing an RSS feed for customers. Solving the NITF to RSS browser problem will just prolong their feeling that they don't need to do customer level syndication because they already produce XML.
Pure guesswork but I bet there's a file somewhere in that 5Mb that lists the items or lists the most recent item.
