Sandard RSS location?

Hello,

Has anyone proposed a standard location for an RSS file, or 
index of RSS files for a site? I am thinking of an approach similar 
to a sites "robots.txt" file for a site -- a predictable location for 
syndication data.

(robots.txt is supposed to be located at the sites root directory, ie 
www.yahoo.com/robots.txt , and defines which directories are 
allowed to be indexed by software agents and which agents are 
allowed/disallowed)

I haven't been following that closely, so something like this could 
have slipped under my radar, but it strikes me as something that 
would be useful.
