This is true, but it would also (IMO) lead to situations where gaining
access to RSS files would involve negotiated deals, contracts, terms,
lawyers, and so forth. Then its no longer simple to get headlines. RSS
is succeeding because it is easy to generate and because there is no 
need for a formal agreement between the parties involved.

I would take a contrary view:  Ads might let us get away from the only
alternative business model (as Jeff said, driving traffic back to the
publisher).

One reason that the RSS model is more prolific than other content
syndication models is that there are still no simple billing mechanisms for
the content itself.
