Dave, believe me, I do understand what you want here -- honestly.  And I
think folks are trying to give you that.  What I'm hearing is that you _can_
promote RSS as a simple content syndication format, and you can indeed do
that with RSS as the root, just exactly the way you've written it in your
spec.  Continued development only serves to help promote RSS and enable
folks to use it to create good works.

Yes, working with a community on building what they want is always a slow
process, and a massive pain in the tuchus sometimes, but it's well worth it.
And if you like RSS 0.91 as it is, good on you; it's still very much there,
not as a thing dropped by Netscape, but as a living, evolving data format
that can still be used in even the simplest of fashions if folks are so
inclined.
