Not answering for Morbus, But I think that he was simply trying to
explain why a more open process for developing the standard would be
helpful.

I think it's pretty obvious from all of the comments on the spec that
have happened that people ARE interested in having a revised version
of the 0.9x series of RSS, and that the stopMotion that you refer to
isn't really going to happen.

If the development of the spec was done on a mailing ist, or yahoo
groups, it would encourage more interaction between the people
interested in it, and would provide a mechanism to save why things
were done (i.e. why was a <category> included under <item>, but not
<channel> ?).

If the conversation were to take place on yahoo groups, I could
simply read the new mails via email os rss feed, and easily reply,
rather than hoping that I read the correct websites of the people
that are commenting (since most comments appear to be on personal
websites).

I suggest that the conversation of the development of this spec be
moved to something more public.

A nice analogy: Try to create a document that requires the input of
10 or more people. Try to do it over the phone. without conference
calling. You'll find it quite frustrating, just as creating a
specification like this is hard to do when the creation is divided
into multiple two-person conversations.

Sometimes a simple change of conversation medium makes frustration
minimal, and efficiency optimal. Conversation methods are of upmost
importance in such matters.
