Here's what I would recommend right now, as of January 2003.

Since you have access to the server and can do an HTTP-level 
permanent redirect, do it that way. At least some of the aggregators 
will observe it and adjust their databases to store the new location 
and will stop accessing the old one. Some of them will traverse the 
redirect as long as it's in place and will break when and if you 
remove it. Others will not be able to deal with the redirect and will 
break right now.

If you did not have access to the server at this level I would 
encourage you to use the method I outlined a couple of months ago. At 
least Radio UserLand and NetNewsWire will make the adjustment (I 
think both will respect the method outlined above as well). Others 
will disagree, but we've had this debate several times, consider it 
included in this thread.
