Partisan Hackery

Saturday, 16 October 2004

I’m not the first to blog this by any means, but it’s notable enough to interrupt our regular… err… broadcast. Stop what you’re doing and see John Stewart take on Crossfire. A taste;

STEWART: It’s not honest. What you do is not honest. What you do is partisan hackery. And I will tell you why I know it.

CARLSON: You had John Kerry on your show and you sniff his throne and you’re accusing us of partisan hackery?

STEWART: Absolutely.

CARLSON: You’ve got to be kidding me. He comes on and you…

STEWART: You’re on CNN. The show that leads into me is puppets making crank phone calls.

Also see America the Book and, of course, the Daily Show. Stewart has great insight as well as an honesty that’s compelling; it’s truly frightening to know that the best we can do now is a comedy show.

The ironic part of this post is that you are celebrating the mockery of the very thing you are guilty of yourself:
