RE: Re[2]: [syndication] Re: [rss] [2000-05-11] RSSx "Straw-Man" (repost)
I'm neither Dave nor Rael but I have a few problems with current spec:
1. (see discussion "introduction and few ideas" on RSS list)
A way of providing links to alternative content (e.g. WML) in RSS.
For example, a news site may have WAP version but they have no
easy way to say it to aggregator. There are ways (hacks I would say)
such as having a separate RSS file with "[wap]" in the name or something
like that but I don't think that's good long-term solution.
2. Some sort of way to providing additional information in a way that won't
break any parser already parsing "RSSX" correctly (e.g. Motley Fool
stock quotes).
It would also be nice to see some sort of interactive RSS with possibility
of
customisation of module by the user on aggregator side (e.g. customising
news section(s)
that gets displayed by RSS without creating 250 separate channels).
